Limited Repress - 500 Copies on Sea Blue Vinyl.

The debut LP from Bristol's Snails is a beautifully consistent work which more than builds on the early promise shown on the band's two 45s for The Great Pop Supplement label. The first of these singles, She’d Like an Hour, a quicksilver slice of Basil Kirchin-influenced psych-folk, was originally picked out by Jarvis Cocker for his Sunday Service BBC 6 Music show. On their first full-length work for the Feral Child label, a taught pop classicism emerges, filtering the influence of mavericks such as Syd Barrett and Ray Davies through a deft lyricism and craftsmanship all their own. Songwriter Dan Weltman studied film music composition and draws widely from folk, classical and outsider pop, and the strings and woodwinds that colour the LP emerge and twist in idiosyncratic shapes. This first repress of Safe in Silence as a 500 run on Sea Blue vinyl comes as a precursor to a new EP and LP due later in 2018.
