Ultramagnetic MC’s – Funk Your Head Up is a classic early ’90s hip hop release and an essential piece for collectors of Golden Age Hip Hop, underground rap and Kool Keith related records.

Originally released in 1992 on FFRR, Funk Your Head Up was the second studio album from the influential New York group, following their landmark Critical Beatdown. The album runs for around 70 minutes and features the group’s trademark combination of unconventional production, hard hitting beats and highly distinctive lyricism.

The record includes standout tracks such as “M.C. Champion,” “Go 4 Yourz,” “Funk Radio,” “Stop Jockin’ Me,” “Bust the Facts,” “You Ain’t Real,” “Make It Happen,” “Poppa Large” and “Moe Love on the 1 and 2.”

Ultramagnetic MC’s occupy an important place in hip hop history, with Kool Keith, Ced-Gee, TR Love and Moe Love developing a sound that was markedly different from the more mainstream rap of the era. Their experimental approach and eccentric lyricism helped establish them as a major influence on later underground and alternative hip hop.
