MED, Blu & Madlib - The Burgundy EP

Vinyl - N/M

US 2013 EP

Some records feel like they were made specifically for people who still believe in digging through crates, chasing rare pressings, and letting a great beat speak for itself. MED, Blu & Madlib’s The Burgundy EP is one of those records.

Originally released in 2013 on Bang Ya Head, The Burgundy EP brought together Los Angeles MCs MED and Blu with legendary producer Madlib for a nine track meeting of soulful samples, off kilter production and sharp underground lyricism. The original release was pressed on burgundy coloured vinyl, making it particularly attractive to collectors.

At the heart of The Burgundy EP is Madlib’s production. MED and Blu trade verses over his unmistakable sample heavy beats, creating a sound that sits comfortably between West Coast underground hip-hop, jazz-inflected beats and classic crate-digging production.
